TRINITY U.C.C. WINS DOUBLE ELIMINATION TOURNAMENT

            Once again, a team fought their way back through the loser’s bracket to win the Double elimination Tournament. This year, It was Trinity UCC capturing the 28^th Tournament. It was their third Championship, having won in 1980 (the first tournament) and 2001. They have been runners-up in 1986.

            Fritz, for the second year in a row, was the runner up, after having won the tournament in 2005. They have been runners-up in 1996, 2006 and this year.

DOUBLE ELIMINATION TOURNAMENT

Once again, a team fought their way back through the loser's bracket to win the Double Elimination Tournament. This year, it was Trinity UCC capturing the 28th Tournament. It was their third Championship, having won in 1980 (the first tournament) and 2001. They have been runners-up in 1986.

Fritz, for the second year in a row, was the runner-up, after having won the tournament in 2005. They have been runners-up in 1996,2006,and 2007.

Trinity got to the finals by defeating College Hill, Holy Trinity, East Hills and Fritz twice. They lost one game to Fritz. Fritz defeated Christ UCC, West Side, St Matthews and Trinity. They lost two to Trinity.

Trinity won the semi-final game 4-3 despite being out hit 15-9. Fritz scored two in the first in Bill Jacoby's bunt, Blair Weller's single, Woody Rehm's balk and a double by Jack Rohal. Trinity scored single tallies in the first and fifth. Two in the sixth on a single by Mark Talijan and Mike Enoy's home run.

The final game was won by Trinity 3-2. With the score tied 2-2 in the bottom of the ninth, a triple by Ted Cressman and a bunt by Bruce Laudenslager secured the win and the DET Championship. Total hits: Trinity 10, Fritz 9.

The tournament was played on November 5th and 6th at Christ UCC. A total of 23 games were played with the little out under the double considered a walk. Schoenersville did not take part in the tournament.
