Peter Diehl On This Week’s Evangelism At EHMC

True friends in Christ,
What a blessing this week has been.

On Tuesday I watched an incredibly talented and gifted group of East Hills friends explore creative ways to use technology and social media to further the mission of Christ. This group, the “Communications Committee”, identifies needs, prepares a plan, then gets the job done. They would probably be surprised to hear me say it, but I have been in the church long enough to recognize the Spirit of Christ at work in a group of Christians. These Christian friends of mine have “It” going on!

On Wednesday 11 men took time out of their busy week (one man even fixed the parlor sink right before we began!) to have a Bible study at EHMC. Some of us were tired. Some of us were having a difficult day. But when someone said, “I just had to be here tonight”, the Spirit of Christ was among us. We looked at how King David dealt with adversity, and prayed. I think we all came away knowing that Christ is the important foundation upon which we wish to live our lives. We are not perfect Christians, but Christ is our rock.

I was at East Hills a lot this week. One evening as I was leaving the church I glanced at the comfortable looking cot and sleeping bag set up in the Narthex. Just then I opened the front door to a blast of icy air. I thought about having to spend the night outside in such temperatures, and how cozy and safe that cot and sleeping bag in the Narthex looked. I am so thankful that many of my Christian friends at East Hills are involved in providing a safe and warm place for homeless men and women to spend a cold winter night.

Seeds of faith are growing in abundance throughout our church. I hope they are growing in me and all of you as well.

Your friend in Christ, Peter Diehl
